Deer meat is one of the few vegetarian foods that actually tastes good.
So, when you’re craving something that has a hint of sweetness, try this deer meat recipe.
You’ll be surprised how good it is.
Ingredients 1 pound beef jerky, cubed 1 cup water, divided 1 cup brown sugar 1 tsp.
ground cinnamon 1 tsp salt 1 cup finely chopped onions 1 cup thinly sliced carrots 1 cup dried peas 2 cups thinly sliced celery 2 cups finely chopped carrots, halved 1 cup lightly-diced onions, halving 1 cup coarsely chopped celery, halve Directions Combine the water, brown sugar, cinnamon, salt, and onion in a saucepan over medium heat.
Cook, stirring constantly, until the mixture thickens to the point of foaming.
Turn off the heat.
Add the carrots, celery and onions, and cook, stirring occasionally, until they’re all browned.
Remove the beef jerks from the heat, add the carrots and celery to the saucepan, and stir to combine.
Add remaining 1 cup of water and simmer for 2 hours, until thickened and tender.
Remove beef jerkins from the sauce, and let cool completely.
Combine the remaining 1/2 cup of brown sugar and the remaining cinnamon in a bowl and mix well.
Spread the beef mixture over the cooled beef jerkes and place in a freezer-safe container.
Cover tightly and refrigerate overnight.
When ready to use, slice beef jerk halves into thin strips.
Place the meat strips on a baking sheet and place them in a single layer on the baking sheet.
Bake for 20 minutes at 350 degrees F. Remove meat strips from the oven and let them cool completely before slicing and serving.
The flavor of the beef meat is just right.
